I have a soon to be world famous acronym for helping board members make decisions. Today’s recommendation is about the D in ADAPPT.
Diligence
Assuming the board has the authority to make the decision, let us now figure out if you have all of the information that you would like to have before you decide. This is being diligent.
What do you need to know? Who has the expertise that you require? What would be most helpful in many cases is a peek into a crystal ball to see what the future might have in store for your organization. Sadly, this is unlikely.
Once you have all the information you need and can get, then you are ready to move on to the next letter in the acronym.
