Many non-profit organizations will be having their AGM’s in June. The AGM stands for Annual General Meeting. Much important stuff happens at an AGM . The new board is elected, the financial statements are approved and auditors are appointed. This tip is about getting your nominating committee into gear to get a full slate of directors ready to be presented at the AGM.
The nominating committee is responsible for finding a group of potential candidates who represent the same level of diversity as the organization does. These board members should also have a range of skills and be willing to spend some time helping the organization. It takes time to find the right people so the nominating committee will be busy year round with this task. However, now is the time to kick the search into high gear because the AGM is coming soon and the list of board members needs to be ready.
