I have talked about the need for signs before. Basically there are policies which stakeholders will never know about unless there is a sign. A sign that says “Restricted Area” is more effective than having everyone read your policy manual about the places that they can go and the places that they cannot go. As I have said before for every policy that you put in place you need a plan for how you tell people about it and how you monitor compliance.
This sign does both. It tells you to stay out and it indicates that compliance is being monitored. This is a good sign.
However, the second sign where the trees are obscuring the message is not as effective. The question to be asked is – Do we have a plan to inform stakeholders about all our policies and if so how effective is our plan?
