Balance Planning for Then with Living for Now. Canada 150 Recommendation #149

Saturday’s= Retirement

People who plan for retirement tend to be conservative in their spending. People who do not plan for retirement are more likely to spend money easily. Clearly these are over simplifications, but the point I am trying to make is that there is a balance to be struck between enjoying each day and planning for a future.
Not everyone will live long enough to be retired. I don’t like to see people putting off too many things until they are retired. There is a live for today mantra which will be the wrong strategy if that means one arrives at retirement without a plan.
Balance your planning with some current spending. One term for this would be hedging your bets.
