Sunday May 4 – I participated in the first duathlon of the season held in Musquodoboit Harbour. The race is a 4km run followed by a 24km bike ride followed by a 4km run. This distance is termed a sprint. There are longer races and I am preparing for longer triathlons. This race is early in the schedule and I think of it as a warm up for the races to come.
In most aspects of life we prepare to perform. We practice and hope that for our key race we have a good day.
I do triathlon because the complexity of the sport appeals to me. We have to get good at three separate disciplines, swimming, biking and running and learn how to do them one after another. I find this challenging and experience a sense of accomplishment every time I finish a race.
I am fortunate to have found a hobby that provides health benefits as well as enjoyment. More multi tasking! I travel to races which is also something I enjoy. Everyone should have a hobby that helps them in so many ways!
