The Cannabis Act will come into effect in Canada in October of 2018. How does the fact that cannabis consumption will be legal for adults affect your employee and board conduct policies?
In the past, cannabis would have been lumped into the category of illegal substances in your policies. Now cannabis should be moved to the category of legal substances. However, you don’t want employees or board members to be under the influence of cannabis at work anymore than you want your employees to be drunk at work. If you have not already done so, you should add the conversation about policy review concerning cannabis to the board agenda.
