CRA launched the CEP program late in 2017. The acronym stands for Charity Education Program. What it means is that a CRA official is going to visit and ask questions about books and records, purposes and activities. They will review the books and records. The CEP official will give guidance on changes that are needed in the form of a written letter that an authorized representative of the charity must sign. Apparently, 500 of these visits are planned per year and the emphasis will be on newer charities. Sounds like an audit to me.
