Do You Have a Board Application Form?

The time is coming to start recruiting for the board. Annual general meetings will be held soon and new board members will be elected. To make that happen you need nominations to be received for board positions. The nominating committee is busy identifying and vetting potential candidates. Circulating an application form will speed up the process. What needs to be included on this form?

 Do your board members need to have a criminal record check? Do they need any particular safety training? Would you like them to have some board experience? What skills are the board looking for? How about asking them why they want to serve on this board?

Getting the same information from all of the applicants helps to streamline the process of board selection. An application form will also make the process more transparent to stakeholders, which is a governance goal.
