When a prospective board member is being considered, how do you obtain all the information you would like to have to decide if they are worthy? Do you ask for a criminal records check? A vulnerable person’s check? Will they need references or board experience?
The group should spend a little time deciding what characteristics they would like to see in a board member and then design a form to gather that information. An application form will streamline the process for the nominating committee in their decision about whether to forward the board members name to the AGM for consideration.
