It is important for board members to hear about your policies before they are being asked to make decisions at a board meeting. It is hard for people to follow the rules, if they do not know the rules. A director should have signed the annual confirmation about confidentiality and conflict of interest before they assume their duties.
Who is responsible for educating board members? Should it be the nominating committee or the executive committee? Each group should establish who is accountable for board training and what should be included in this training.
