It is spring, everywhere but Nova Scotia. Soon even in Nova Scotia we will be able to enjoy being outside.
As I train for my upcoming Ironman 70.3 and Ironman 140.6 races I need to ride my bike outside. As the workouts lengthen beyond 3 hours to up to six hours it is simply not possible to sit on a bike trainer in my basement. I have to get out on the roads.
People who know me, know that I have had a number of bike accidents. I have never had a bike accident on a trainer – talk about tempting fate – so as I go outside where the giant pot holes and the cars and trucks live I am a little worried. A whole winter of training in my basement could be wasted if I get hit by another car or crash on any more railway tracks.
This picture was taken In Yarmouth this winter during a run I did while was there and made me laugh. We have enough trouble sharing the road with bikes and cars, I think sharing the road with ducks might just be too much! Most of our roads do not have bike lanes let alone duck lanes. Life is full of challenges!
