This picture is indicative of many paths in HRM where there is no winter maintenance. People will still walk and run on these paths and the many footsteps will eventually turn the snow into ice. I will run on this type of path, it is reasonably safe as long as one just goes slowly – not a problem for me. Once the path is ice however I am less likely to run on the path. This winter has not been a good one for outdoor running.
I am interested in running in the winter and I am also interested in governance. So does this little yellow sign that says there is no winter maintenance get the owners off the hook if anyone falls?
It must work because one certainly sees many of these signs.
